Chase Race 2010

Ready Set Go!!!

Chase Race and Paws had its beginning March 11 2006 as an event to celebrate the brief life of Donald Lee Chase Potter, 1991-2005. Chase’s parents, Don and Cheryl Potter, searched for a way to perpetually continue the legacy of their 13-year old son who loved animals and suffered from traumatic brain injury. His parents, both runners, focused on a running event that could be partnered with pets. So the dream of a Chase Race became real. It is now a quality, fun and exciting annual event that occurs near March 12, the date of his death.

Chase Race 2010 generated $7000 for the "Friends of the Conway Animal Shelter." This Fund Raiser will allow the "Friends" to continue spay/neuter and seeing to the needs of shelter animals.

Thanks Don Potter and Conway Running Club!!!

Improvements

Recently, a voluntary tax, provided by the citizens of Conway, has allowed us to make some long needed improvements at AWU.

In March 2004, renovation began in the kennel area, which allowed  us to add 6 additional pens to better accommodate the rising pet population.  The construction of cinder block walls eliminated cross contamination of pens that existed before.  This will also allow us to better disinfect the kennel area.

Our next project was beautification on the outside.  We have dedicated our flower bed in memory of Mr. Greg Pruett.  A beautiful variety of flowers that will change randomly to ensure we are blooming with reds & purples and other wonderful colors year round.

Improvements will soon start on the lobby; to include new and additional counter space, flooring, and ceiling fans.
