1. When are the animal shelters open to the public?
A: Shelter Hours are M-F 10-5 and Sat 9-12
2. Why do I have to license and vaccinate my dog? He never leaves the house.
A: Rabies vaccination is Arkansas State Law and city ordinance. A city license provides Animal Welfare the proper information to return a lost animal back to its rightful owner.
3. What do I need to do to license my dog?
A: Provide a copy of the rabies certificate at any local veterinarian or a copy to Conway Animal Welfare and a city tag will be issued. City tags are renewed once yearly.
4. What do I do to complain about a barking dog?
A: You can file a complaint with the Conway Animal Welfare. The next step would be to keep a log of how long the dog barks and at what times.
5. I know it’s important to get my pet “fixed”‚ but I don’t have a lot of money and don’t have a veterinarian. Can you refer me to one?
A: We can not recommend one however we can provide you with a list of local veterinarians that provide those services
6. When will an animal control officer respond to my call?
7. Does your shelter have animals available for adoption?
A: We always have animals available for adoption and encourage people to adopt from local shelters
8. How can I get a dead animal removed?
A: Deceased or dead animals are removed by placing a call to Animal Welfare at (501) 450-6161
9. Where can I find a veterinary hospital that will perform emergency services for my pet?
A: Maumelle is the closest emergency veterinarian. They can be reached at 501-955-0911 and is located at 290 Smokey Ln, N.Little Rock, AR.
10. What information can you give me to help with a wild animal?
A: Depending on the type of wildlife you are encountering we may be able to assist you. Never approach wildlife on your own.
11. Can you recommend a good trainer that only uses positive reinforcement training methods?
A: Your local veterinarian may be able to provide you with a list of trainers
