Spay and Neuter Program
History Of Spay/Neuter Program
In April of 2002, the City Council pledged that any funds collected for the licensing of dogs and cats in the city would be set aside for a period of time and tracked to determine the amount of money collected. If at that time it was determined enough funds had been collected a spay/neuter program would be considered.
On June 8, 2004, with the blessing of the Mayor and City Council, it was determined that, all funds collected for the licensing of dogs and cats shall be set aside for an assisted spay/neuter program for animals adopted out of the shelter and other health needs for the shelter. This will be a voucher program. The vouchers will be issued when an animal is adopted from the shelter, to a City of Conway Resident. Vouchers will be issued in the amount of $120 for a dog and $80 for a cat. Those that adopt that do not live in the city limits will pay a flat fee of $75 to adopt and this will include spay/neuter fees and rabies vaccination.
